
The Japanese government said Monday it is closely following developments in Syria and hopes the humanitarian situation there will improve after rebels toppled the Syrian government.
Yoshimasa Hayashi, the top government spokesman, said Japan is “strongly concerned” about a further worsening of the humanitarian situation, urging all relevant parties to stop the violence, abide by international law and ease tensions in the Middle East region.
